• About the PlaCES project

    The PlaCES e-learning course aims to introduce learners to Cultural Ecosystem Services (CES) and their integration into landscape planning, design and management. It provides the theoretical knowledge and practical tools needed to identify, assess and enhance the cultural and natural values of landscapes, with particular attention to riverscapes.

    The course includes:

    • five theoretical modules on CES and riverscapes, spatial planning, heritage conservation, river restoration and open-space design;
    • practical tools and checklists for analysing real-life sites;
    • examples and experiences from the PlaCES fieldwork activities and International Intensive Course;
    • additional resources for further learning;
    • quizzes and a final assessment leading to a certificate of completion.

    The course is self-paced, interdisciplinary and designed for students, teachers, researchers and practitioners interested in sustainable landscape planning.
