about places

PlaCES is an Erasmus+ project that aims to improve higher education in landscape planning and design by integrating Cultural Ecosystem Services (CES). It considers culture as the fourth pillar of sustainability and explores how landscapes—particularly riverscapes—provide cultural, social, aesthetic and recreational benefits to communities.

The project develops an innovative interdisciplinary teaching approach combining theoretical knowledge, practical tools, real-life case studies and cooperation with local stakeholders. Through fieldwork, an international intensive course and open-access learning resources, PlaCES helps students develop the skills needed to design and manage sustainable, resilient landscapes while considering both natural and cultural values.
